SUSY for Housing

The AI curriculum, written for housing.

Ten modules of practical AI skill, delivered down ten role pathways, so a neighbourhood officer, a repairs coordinator, a finance officer and a chief executive each learn the same discipline against their own work. Built for housing associations, delivered into your own LMS.

From October 2026, the Competence and Conduct Standard expects housing providers in England to show their staff have the skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours to deliver a high standard of service. Where AI is part of the job, SUSY builds that skill against the work people actually do.

The spine

Ten modules, taken in order.

Every pathway runs the same ten modules. What changes is the worked example, the scenario and the language, so the skill is learned against the work that area actually does. Open any module for what it covers and what people can do afterwards.

01An Introduction to AI

This module establishes a clear and practical foundation for working with AI. It explains what AI is and is not, how large language models work, and why outputs can appear confident but still require judgement. Learners explore everyday uses of AI, reflect on their own mindset, and assess their readiness, building confidence through experimentation rather than technical complexity.

What people can do afterwards

  • Answer, What is AI?Explain in simple terms what AI is and how large language models (LLMs) work
  • Identify Use CasesIdentify everyday use case scenarios for AI in your work
  • Understand your AI MindsetRecognise your current mindset toward AI use, considering barriers and concerns
  • Assess your AI ReadinessUnderstand your own confidence and readiness for using AI.
02Ethics & Accountability

This module focuses on using AI responsibly by grounding practice in five core principles: data privacy, consent and control, fairness, transparency, and explainability. Through realistic scenarios, learners practise balancing efficiency with care, understanding why human judgement must remain central and how ethical use connects to existing rules, expectations, and trust.

What people can do afterwards

  • Ethics FoundationIdentifying the pillars that underpin ethical AI use
  • AI & ResponsibilityAppreciating why understanding AI systems supports and empowers responsible use.
  • Finding the BalanceUsing AI to boost efficiency and creativity while protecting people and data.
  • Connecting to PolicyRecognising how this training complements policies you already have in place.
03Communication

This module develops practical skills for using AI as a drafting partner in communication. Learners practise generating clear first drafts, shaping tone to fit different contexts, combining multiple sources into coherent messages, and applying transparency so AI-supported communication remains credible, trustworthy, and human-led.

What people can do afterwards

  • Drafting CommunicationGenerating clear and appropriate first drafts for communication
  • Setting the ToneAdjusting outputs to reflect organisational or personal tone-of-voice
  • Bringing it TogetherConsolidating multiple resources into a single coherent message
  • Transparency in PracticeApplying best practices to facilitate transparency and trust in communication
04Content Creation

This module introduces the CODER framework as a structured way to guide, improve, and refine AI-generated content. Learners practise briefing AI with clarity, checking understanding before writing begins, and refining outputs for tone, accuracy, and inclusivity. The focus is on maintaining oversight while increasing efficiency and creative confidence.

What people can do afterwards

  • Understanding CODERExplaining the value of each CODER step in managing AI outputs
  • CODER in PracticeApplying CODER to a real everyday writing task
  • The Art of RefinementRefining AI drafts for tone, accuracy, and inclusivity
  • Responsible CreationReflecting on how CODER supports oversight, efficiency and integrity
05Data Analysis

This module explores how AI can support structured analysis without replacing critical thinking. Learners combine human judgement with AI capability to clean data, explore patterns, test assumptions, and validate outputs. Emphasis is placed on defensible reasoning, careful evaluation, and clear communication of insights using familiar frameworks.

What people can do afterwards

  • Strengthening the AI PartnershipCombining judgement with AI capability to uncover insights that matter.
  • Applying the Six Step FrameworkUsing the classical analysis steps as a structure for AI assisted data analysis.
  • Evaluating AI-Generated OutputsTesting and validating what AI produces for accuracy, fairness and relevance.
  • Communicating InsightsPresenting findings to decision-makers clearly, ethically, and transparently with CODER.
06Research & Creative Thinking

This module positions AI as a thinking partner for exploring complex challenges. Learners define meaningful problems, gather insight, generate a wide range of ideas, and evaluate options using impact and practicality. The module concludes by turning one selected idea into a focused, achievable action plan that can be tested in the real world.

What people can do afterwards

  • Defining the ChallengeIdentifying and framing meaningful issues using structured research and AI-assisted questioning
  • Generating IdeasUse AI to explore creative, ethical, and feasible solutions to real workforce challenges
  • Evaluating your OptionsApply impact–doability reasoning to prioritise ideas with the best potential.
  • Planning for ActionTurn a selected idea into a practical action plan aligned with organisational goals.
07Problem Solving

This module narrows creative thinking into disciplined problem solving. Learners clarify a real challenge, uncover likely root causes, sense-check their thinking against wider patterns, and generate practical options. The focus is on moving from ambiguity to action through small, low-risk tests supported by evidence and reflection.

What people can do afterwards

  • Clarifying Your ProblemExplain your chosen challenge clearly and spot underlying assumptions using structured prompts
  • Exploring Root CausesUse guided questioning to uncover what's driving the problem
  • Generating & Comparing OptionsCreating practical options and comparing them using clear criteria to support confident decision making
  • Moving from Choice to ActionConverting your chosen solution into a focused, low risk test with defined steps, evidence, and stakeholders
08Advanced Prompting & Workflows

This module builds confidence in managing more complex AI interactions. Learners practise diagnosing why workflows drift, collaborating with AI to regain alignment, reconstructing messy processes, and validating outputs for accuracy. The emphasis is on control, clarity, and calm intervention rather than starting over.

What people can do afterwards

  • Getting UnstuckQuickly get unstuck by learning to understand what an AI conversation or workflow is doing
  • Collaborative PromptingUsing simple collaboration techniques to get the model aligned: identifying gaps, spotting misunderstandings, and improving responses
  • Reconstructing WorkflowsTurning a messy, abandoned workflow into something clear, structured, and usable
  • Validating for AccuracyConfirming accuracy by checking the workflow against a reliable fact sheet
09Key Learning & Reflection

This module creates space to consolidate learning and recognise progress. Learners reflect on skills developed, shifts in confidence, and emerging habits that support effective AI use. The focus is on making learning visible, identifying what to carry forward, and embedding sustainable practices into everyday work.

What people can do afterwards

  • Recognising Your GrowthRecognise the practical skills, habits, and improvements you've developed.
  • Reflecting on Your JourneyExplore how your confidence has evolved, tracing what helped you move through uncertainty and experimentation to literacy.
  • Consolidating Your CapabilityFraming the practical progress you've made by naming approaches, understanding habits and recognising your personal growth.
  • Carrying Capability to PracticeIdentifying the habits and techniques you want to carry forward to support confident, sustainable AI use in your everyday work.
10From Capability to Culture

This final module shifts attention from individual skill to shared practice. Learners explore how openness, visible judgement, and proportionate risk management shape trust around AI use. The module emphasises small, everyday behaviours that help teams build confidence, consistency, and responsible norms over time.

What people can do afterwards

  • AI Transparency in TeamsKnow when and how to be open about using AI at work, and explain how transparency helps build trust, clarity, and confidence within teams.
  • Making Judgement VisibleShow where human judgement has been applied when using AI, so decisions remain clear, accountable, and owned by people, not tools.
  • Assessing RiskDecide how much checking, explanation, or documentation is needed when using AI, based on the level of risk involved.
  • Setting the Tone for TeamsModel small, everyday behaviours that encourage responsible, confident, and thoughtful use of AI across the team.

Ten pathways

The same skill, in your own words.

Each pathway is the whole curriculum told through one area of the business. Housing management and finance learn the same discipline against the work in front of them. Open a pathway to see how each module lands there.

Two of the ten are written for people who spend most of the day away from a desk. CX & Housing Management is built around the neighbourhood officer: tenancy visits, damp and mould, safeguarding referrals, case notes that hold up. Property & Asset Management is built around works, compliance and the evidence behind them.

Optional add-ons

Three ways to go further.

The ten modules are the spine. These sit alongside it, taken on when they earn their place rather than by default.

Organisation specific

Governance, Guardrails & Assurance

Built around your organisation rather than your sector. It carries your approved tools, your escalation routes, your record-keeping expectations and your sign-off lines, so responsible use is described in the terms your people are actually held to.

Bespoke, scoped with you

Tool specific

The Copilot Suite

For organisations standing up Microsoft Copilot. The integrations, where it sits inside the apps people already have open, and the working habits that decide whether a licence gets used or quietly lapses.
